HOST: Dewayne Bryant
In this episode, Dewayne examines the ancient Egyptian practice of mummification, as well as its connection to the Bible.
“The Egyptian pharaohs began preparing for eternity almost as soon as they took the throne of Egypt. They understood mortality, but they didn’t know everything about eternity. That’s where we are different. We understand eternity, but for some reason we act as if our mortality is an illusion.”
Texts for Reflection:
Ecclesiastes 12:13 – “The end of the matter’ all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
Luke 12:20-21 – “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
1 Corinthians 15:22 – “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.”
1 Corinthians 15:53-54 – “For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
