Under the Juniper Tree Season 9, Episode 6 for Tuesday, March 26, 2019
One aspect of what some Psychologists refer to as “toxic manliness” is the repression of emotions.Repression can lead to major health issues: high blood pressure, stroke, and heart attack among others. So, should men express their emotions?
First note: God created our emotions.
- The scriptures speak of God expressing emotions.
- Joy: Luke 15:10
- Wrath: Exodus 32:9-10
- In the same manner, we were created with the ability to express them.
- David: Psalm 6:6; 42:3; 56:8
- Jeremiah: Jer. 9:1
- Paul commands to joy: Romans 12:15
- Crying does not make a man a “cry baby.”
- At the same time, we should have control over our emotions rather than allowing them to control over us (Psalm 37:8; Eph 4:31).
