  • Anxiety can be crippling! On this week’s episode of Under the Juniper Tree, Andrew goes to the apostle Paul for advice on dealing with anxiety.

Outline of this episode:

  • There are two types of people in this world.

    • There are those who suffer from anxiety and those who do not.

    • Both parties have a hard time understanding each other.

  • Anxiety is crippling this world.

  • If you are among those who suffer, there is no reason to be ashamed.

  • What is Paul’s advice for us?

    • Phil. 4:5-9 covers what one can do.

    • Over the next few weeks we will cover this subject.

  • “Be careful for nothing” (Phil. 4:5a).

    • The word “careful” means “to be full of care.”

    • Paul’s advice is to stop worrying.

  • Rumination is dangerous thing.

    • It is more than just intent thinking.

    • This is focusing on a negative subject and continually thinking on it.

    • It is usually coupled with self-examination (criticism), pessimism, neuroticism, and a difficulty solving problems.

    • It is noted that females are more likely to be involved in rumination than males.

  • What happens when one finds himself ruminating?

    • Answer: Unless you are a musician, it is likely that nothing good will occur.

    • Matt. 6:27

    • The problem will be no closer to being solved by worrying about it.

  • Stop worrying.

    • One of the wonderful things about the Bible is that it does not just tell us the problem.

    • It also tells us how we can stop worrying.
