Anxiety can be crippling! On this week’s episode of Under the Juniper Tree, Andrew goes to the apostle Paul for advice on dealing with anxiety.

There are two types of people in this world.

There are those who suffer from anxiety and those who do not.

Both parties have a hard time understanding each other.

Anxiety is crippling this world.

If you are among those who suffer, there is no reason to be ashamed.

What is Paul’s advice for us?

Phil. 4:5-9 covers what one can do.

Over the next few weeks we will cover this subject.

“Be careful for nothing” (Phil. 4:5a).
-
The word “careful” means “to be full of care.”
-
Paul’s advice is to stop worrying.
-

Rumination is dangerous thing.
-
It is more than just intent thinking.
-
This is focusing on a negative subject and continually thinking on it.
-
It is usually coupled with self-examination (criticism), pessimism, neuroticism, and a difficulty solving problems.
-
It is noted that females are more likely to be involved in rumination than males.

What happens when one finds himself ruminating?
-
Answer: Unless you are a musician, it is likely that nothing good will occur.

The problem will be no closer to being solved by worrying about it.

Stop worrying.
-
One of the wonderful things about the Bible is that it does not just tell us the problem.
-
It also tells us how we can stop worrying.
