“Not Letting The Fire Go Out” (Ready to Worship S4E11)

Ready to Worship Season 4, Episode 11 for Friday, November 18, 2016

The priests in the Old Testament stood daily at the altar offering sacrifices. It was necessary for them to do so. After all, it wasn’t possible for the blood of bulls and goats to permanently take away sins (Heb. 10:1-4). As you know, things are different under the New Testament. Jesus offered one sacrifice and sat down forever (Heb. 10:11-12). He sat down because He was done. By one sacrifice, the sacrifice of Himself, Jesus did what thousands of animal sacrifices offered over thousands of years could not do.  Although worship under the New Testament is not the same as worship under the Old Testament, there are some things that we can learn from Old Testament worship. In this study, we want to focus on the perpetual fire that was to burn on the altar. Just as they were to never let that fire go out (Lev. 6:12-13), we must not let the fire of worship that burns in our hearts go out.
