Ready to Worship Season 10, Episode 11 for Friday, November 8, 2019
This season on Ready to Worship we are examining the attitude that we are to have in worship. In this study, we are going to look at a spirit of brokenness. In the thirty-fourth psalm, David declared,The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.Psalm 34:18In the fifty-first psalm, he wrote,
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:17We would never think of giving a gift that was broken. No doubt, we would replace it with something unbroken. When we think of gifts, we think of that which is new and perfect. Yet, when it comes to worship, the very best gift that we can offer to God is a broken one. A broken heart and a contrite spirit is what God desires. He despises that which is unbroken. An unbroken heart is a hard heart. It is a proud heart. Until our hearts are broken, they are not ready to be offered. As we get ready to worship this week, let’s make sure that the gift that we plan to put on the altar is broken. After all, an unbroken heart is unacceptable.
