Steve Higginbotham, preacher for the Karns church of Christ and instructor for the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies, offers three practical things to consider when there are people who don’t seem to like you as the preacher. “Those who dislike us are more than the sum of their words. We need to love them,” he said. “Christianity is more than a body of doctrines; it involves Christlikeness in daily living.” The issue is more than self-control, but involves active good will toward the person who may have said or done something hurtful to us. Steve said, “Refusing to retaliate is still beneath the ethic of Jesus. … I’m also supposed to actively wish God to bless them.” This is the season 9 finale episode.
