This week’s listener-requested topic deals with preachers coordinating with song leaders to plan a worship service that coordinates around a central theme. Gary Jenkins, co-host of Bountiful: the Heart of Money Management and Late Night at TLN, is a wonderful song leader for the North Charleston church of Christ in North Charleston, South Carolina. Gary always gives a lot of thought into the songs and verses he leads in worship, and the end result is a focused period of worship to God. Gary challenges us: “Remember that worship is not about you; it’s about God” – an important call to humility. Preachers – and maybe song leaders, too – need to be reminded of the privilege of leading in worship so that our weekly responsibility does not become ritualistic.
