Preachers in Training Season 8, Episode 18 for Thursday, December 20, 2018
How often do you get to listen to other preachers preach? It’s a rare occasion for most preachers – in fact, it could be so rare that we don’t really know HOW to listen.
On this episode, Kevin Rhodes, the director of the Brown Trail School of Preaching, offers several tips for listening to other preachers:
- Listen actively (Luke 8:18; Acts 20:7).
- Engage noticeably (Neh. 8:3).
- Reflect rationally (1 The. 5:21-23; Psa. 1:2).
- Discern patiently (Heb. 4:12; 5:12; 1 Cor. 2:14).
- Consider respectfully (Mat. 7:12).
- Critique lovingly (John 13:34-35; 2 The. 3:15).
Attention is also given to the attitude of listening, to whom we should listen, the purpose of lisetning, and a final warning for listening to others preach.
