“Brokenhearted Leadership” (Authentically Adam S3E2)

Host: Wayne Jones  |  Released Wednesday, January 20, 2021
Before Hollywood waged an all-out assault on manliness and masculinity, the movie industry was built on the proverbial backs of the heroism, the aggression, and the overall brute strength of men. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Arnold, Schwarzenegger, and Sylvester Stallone brought us Rooster Cogburn, Dirty Harry, the Terminator, Rambo, and Rocky.

Real mean fought, bled, shot, and won. They were cocky, sarcastic, and tough. Sometimes they were portrayed as David, but Goliath always fell. Who didn’t want to marry someone like that? Who didn’t want their dad to be big and strong enough to beat up anyone else’s dad? Men, heroes, father, and leaders don’t lose – they aren’t broken, and they certainly aren’t brokenhearted! There is a change that this is the theme you would expect to hear from a podcast like Authentically Adam. We might expect to be told to shake it off, don’t cry, rub some dirt on it; etc. Yet, all men will be brokenhearted at times. More importantly, all men must be brokenhearted at times. In this episode, Wayne discusses these two realities.

We want to hear from you!

Credit is given to The Black Suits for the music for Authentically Adam. Three young men who mean a great deal to me wrote and recorded this music in their teenage years. They helped me to be more authentic and spiritual. Shane, Kyle, and Daniel, I love you guys more than you know. Shane, I hope to see you again one day.
