“Marriage: Dream or Nightmare (Part 1)” (Authentically Adam S2E9)

Authentically Adam Season 2, Episode 9 for Wednesday, October 28, 2020

We live “east of Eden” and all of our relationships are affected by the fall of man in that ancient garden. No earthly relationship is more impacted by those rebellious choices than marriage itself. This episode addresses the reality of this truth and offers scriptural insight into making our marriages what God intended rather than what sin corrupts them to be.

Song of Solomon 5 records a conflict in the early marriage of Solomon and Shulamite. There was overreaction, frustration, regret, and loneliness based on unfulfilled expectations and the resentment that followed. After some textual issues are discussed, Wayne begins to list the various points of emphasis from the text that should help God’s men to build marriages that are dreams instead of nightmares. Since this is a two-part episode, the remainder of those points will be fleshed on in the next show. Much of this week’s discussion centers on the fact that some problems predate our marriages. We should know and appreciate that problems in dating turn into problems in marriage. Men we need to fix ourselves (or better yet, let Christ fix us) before we say, “I do.” We pray that this discussion is God-honoring and soul-strengthening.
